Godrej AC Technologies in India – Review

With summers in its full swing, many of you would want to purchase a new AC. Amidst the crowd of 20+ brands in the AC segment, Godrej is one of known Indian brand. Godrej offers only split ACs. Energy efficiency is one of the key themes of Godrej air conditioners. In fact, the first inverter AC was launched in India by Godrej way back in 2005. Godrej has recently launch NXW series catering premium customers and with 6.15 ISEER, NXW ACs not only meets the 5-star requirements of the current BEE energy rating norms but even complies with the 5-star requirement of the proposed BEE rating for 2019. Key Godrej AC Technologies

Artic Cool Technology and Hurricane Mode for Faster Cooling

There are times when you spend an arduous day out in the parching sun and back home tired and sweaty. When back home, you yearn for an instant cool ambience. But then the old AC takes up a while to deliver comfort cooling, leaving you enervated. Thankfully modern inverter ACs from Godrej comes with Artic Cool technology which quickly cools the room. These ACs provide cooling up to 16°C in a span of few minutes.

Fixed speed non-inverter Godrej ACs come with what is known as hurricane mode. Due to the large indoor unit, there is a wider air throw which in turn results in better cooling. Two sensors, one in the unit and other in the remote are used for this purpose. Depending on the information received from the sensor inside the remote, the AC adjust the ambient temperature. This sensor is capable of gathering temperature information even about the farthest parts of the room, and then passing the same to the main unit, thereby ensuring the customized cooling.

Dry mode to Extract Humidity from the Room

The silver ion filter not only kills bacteria in the air but also inhibits the growth of microbes, such as bacteria, virus, fungi, and spores, by destroying their inner configuration and absorbing the cells elements.

According to the studies an AC running daily for 6 months without proper cleaning and maintenance, it’s cooling capacity is likely to diminish up to 50%. In the fast-paced world, to routinely clean and maintain the AC is a challenge. But thankfully premium Godrej models come with Auto Clean technology which makes the AC clean itself. This helps in achieving highest energy efficiency in an environmentally friendly manner using the highly eco-friendly R290 refrigerant. R290 is not only highly energy-efficient but also has zero ozone depletion potential and the lowest global warming potential. Aerodynamic Grid Fan and PPC Condenser with Nano Coating

The fan in modern Godrej ACs comes with an aerodynamic grid design to provide superior heat exchange. Made from high-quality virgin material this aerodynamic grid fan results in a better durability. The indoor unit comes with additional evaporator coils for better cooling. The condenser is an important component of the AC. Improved condenser design significantly improves the AC’s efficiency. New Godrej models use Parallel Flow Condenser (PFC) design philosophy that helps in power saving and results in a better heat exchange. The best part is it has special gold nano coating which protects from AC from corrosion and increases the life of the condenser.

Inverter Technology with BLDC motors and EEV

Premium AC models from Godrej comes with inverter compressor technology further powered by BLDC motors and EEV. With an increased operating frequency range, this inverter compressor technology gives Godrej an upper hand over its competitors in terms of cooling efficiency. So, what is an inverter technology? Well, to be really simple, inverter technology is analogous to the car accelerator. When a compressor needs more power, it gives it more power. When it needs less power, it gives less power. With this technology, the compressor is always on but draws less power or more power depending on the temperature of the incoming air and the level set in the thermostat.

Compared to the ordinary inverter, Godrej ACs comes with 3 BLDC motors. One for the compressor and other two for indoor and outdoor units respectively. BLDC motors impart high rotational speed with minimal vibrations. Thus, this design used in Godrej models makes the AC operate in a wider range of frequency which in turn helps in maintaining the desired temperature with minimal fluctuations.

Opposed to the capillary or thermostatic valve used in conventional AC, Godrej premium AC models use electronic expansion valve (EEV). Capillary/thermostatic valves are usually debarred of any advanced electronic component and simply allows the free flow of the refrigerant. But EEV allows controlling of refrigerant flow according to the load. This assist in improving the efficiency of the coveted cooling.

Pros and Cons of Godrej Air Conditioners

Energy efficiency is the key theme and the biggest strength of Godrej as an AC brand.
