Aam Aadmi’s Electricity Bill as on July 2013
With rates of electricity rising almost every year since last few years, there is lot of buzz about how it impacts Aam Aadmi. Now rates for electricity are different in different states and most of it may dependent on various factors: Some states are power surplus states and thus the electricity tariffs may be lower. Some states are power deficient states and they have to buy electricity from other states and thus their tariffs may be higher. In some states the tariffs may be lower because the government provides subsidies to keep the tariffs lower. The graphic below shows how much an aam aadmi pays out of his pocket.
We have used 300 units for calculation because that’s what is the average consumption in most middle-income houses in the country.
