Working of air coolers:

Most of the coolers available today are evaporative coolers also known as swamp coolers or desert coolers. In these coolers, hot air from outside is passed over water. The water takes up the heat from the outside air and it evaporates. Hence due to the transfer of heat from air to water, the temperature of air decreases, making it comparatively cooler. This cool air is then directed inside the room. This process when repeated constantly brings down the overall temperature of the room making it pleasant during a hot sunny day.

The outside air is drawn into the cooler with help of a fan where it passes through the cooling pads. The evaporation of water takes places within these cooling pads. A pump is used to bring the water on the top of the cooling pads and is then allowed to trickle down through the pads.

As the working of the coolers involves only evaporation of water, it is the most environment friendly way of space cooling. There is no involvement of cooling gases, and so now you can cool yourself without adding to global warming!

Air Cooler

Things to be considered while buying a cooler

Key things to consider while buying Air Cooler:

1) Buy the right size. Look at CFM calculation below.

2) Honeycomb pads are better.

3) Galvanised steel body coolers have more efficiency and longevity.

4) Highly efficient as compared to Air Conditioners.

5) Look for Humidity Control feature if you are in a humid city.

For a cooler to work efficiently it is very important to use a cooler having correct size as per the size of the room you want to cool. The sizing of coolers is determined by a unit called CFM that is, Cubic feet per minute. The CFM is a unit that is used to measure the air flow. The higher the CFM means the fan is moving more air into the room. There is a simple calculation that will help you find the right size of the cooler you need.

Air delivery or Air displacement (in CFM) = Area of room in square feet x height of your room / 2

(The factor 2 in the denominator denotes that the air in the room is changed once in every 2 minutes)

For example if your room is 100 square feet in area and the ceiling is 8 feet high then,

Air delivery or Air displacement (in CFM) = 100 x 8 / 2

                                                                 =400 cubic feet/ min

But most of the leading brands today mention the air displacement in cubic metres / hour.

So to convert CFM to to cubic metres/hour multiply CFM Value by a factor of 1.699.

1 cubic metre/ hour = 1.699 x 1 CFM.

In our example the size of cooler required is 400 CFM which is equivalent to ,

1.699 x 400 = 680 cubic metres / hour (approx).

It is very important to have a cooler of the right size, if the cooler is smaller than the size required then it will have to work for longer time to cool the room and so it may consume more energy depending on the difference in wattage of the small and right sized coolers.

Effectiveness in various temperatures:

Air coolers work the best in hot and dry climates. The working of the air coolers depends on the evaporation of water into the atmosphere. Hence if more water evaporates, the air will be cooler. But there is a limit to the air holding capacity of the atmosphere, so if the air is already humid, it will not be able to hold more water and as a result the air is not cooled to the extent it would cool in drier climates. Hence higher the humidity, lesser will be the effect of the coolers. Now a days manufactures are making coolers with a feature called ‘Humidity Control’ to overcome this drawback. Many leading brands such as Bajaj and Symphony manufacture models having special features for controlling humidity and can be used in humid coastal regions as well.

The figure shows the relation between the outside temperatures and the humidity in the air.

Air Cooler

(The temperatures mentioned are in Fahrenheit, use the calculator given to convert them to Celsius: http://www.manuelsweb.com/temp.htm)

So if the outside air temperature is 90 Fahrenheit (32.2 Celsius) and the humidity is 30% then the outside air can be cooled up to 74 Fahrenheit (23.3 Celsius). As the humidity goes on increasing, the effective temperatures delivered by the cooler also become higher.

Power consumption, efficiency and other factors:

1. The power consumed by the air coolers is very less as compared to air conditioners. A 1-ton AC would consume 0.8 units in an hour whereas an air cooler for equivalent size of room would only consume 0.1 units in an hour. Similarly a 1.5-ton AC would consume about 1.2-1.3 units in an hour whereas an air cooler for equivalent size of room would only consume 0.12 units in an hour. Higher energy consumption translates to higher electricity bills. Hence along with being eco friendly, coolers are also pocket friendly!

2. Apart from climate, even the cooling pads used contribute to the efficiency. The patterns used in the cooling pads have a great effect on the water absorption and evaporation process. Two popular patterns are the honeycomb and the aspen (wood wool). The difference in both patterns is the capacity of absorbing water and facilitating the passage of air through it. Aspen pads are approximately 75% efficient in contrast to honeycomb pads that are approximately 85% efficient.

3. Another factor to be considered is the material used to make the cooler. Fiber body coolers look more elegant than their steel body counterparts but have smaller cooling pad area. Therefore fiber coolers have lesser cooling efficiency as compared to the steel body coolers. Galvanized steel body offers protection against rusting and hence will give longer life to the coolers along with increased efficiency.

Main advantages:

  1. Apart from being affordable, the air coolers use water for cooling and do not use any refrigerant such as CFC, HCFC etc. for cooling as is the case in air conditioners. Hence they are very Eco friendly.
  2. The initial cost of buying a cooler is much less than that of an air conditioner. That means lower investment!
  3. The power consumed by these coolers is much less as compared to the air conditioners, so the annual energy saving is significant. So along with lower investment, the cost of using coolers is less than using ACs
  4. Coolers are portable. Hence it is very easy to place them in the room that you want to cool.
  5. Air conditioners cool the air inside a room and again direct the air into the same room, whereas air coolers use fresh outside air, cool it and direct it inside the room. Hence more fresh air is circulated in the room.

Disadvantages:

  1. The major disadvantage of an air cooler is its dependency on the climate. In areas with very high humidity, the coolers may prove to be less efficient. The air coming out of the coolers is humid because of the evaporated water. Therefore, coolers add to the humidity in air. So while buying a cooler look for ‘Humidity Control’ in specifications of the cooler.
  2. Coolers also need a continuous supply of water. Also if you are living in a region with hard water, the internal parts of your cooler are at a higher risk of corrosion. Maintenance is required more frequently for these coolers.
  3. The fan in the air coolers makes noise that might be disturbing. But to overcome this, noiseless coolers are available in market today.

Tips for better working:

  1. In contrast to the myth of closing all doors and widows while using air cooling, having good ventilation will work in favor of your cooler. Keep the doors and windows open so that there is enough flow of fresh air in the room. And placing the cooler near the window will be an added advantage and will cool the room faster.
  2. Incase there is foul smell coming from your cooler, it is an indication to clean it. Cleaning and maintaining your cooler will help increase its lifetime.
  3. Adding ice water or ice in coolers will lower the temperatures even further. So using ice water is a good idea on very hot days.

I think now in market so many good cooler brands are available with good Air Throw / Cooling Efficiency. Here what i seen is No anything about other brands Except Symphony. In my opinion Symphony asthetic look & ad. is good but product is not efficient as far as Air & cooling is concern. Now a days so many good brands in market like —- Voltas , Cello, Havells , Bluestar etc & many more.

What is the size of the room and what is your budget?

  • Madhu

Hi.. I am from Hyderabad. Room is < 100sft. Can I go for Desert cooler..? As we don't have a balcony in my master bed room, so It's not possible to place it outside the window. So, my question is Can we place the Desert Cooler near to the window..? Shall we get better cooling than room coolers.. Pl give reply

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

You can always get a frame fabricated (SS or Iron frame), that can be fixed outside your window and you can place the cooler on it. If you want to place a cooler inside the room, you can buy any room cooler. In general placing it outside works better, but keeping it inside the room is not too bad either (if your room is well ventilated).

You can go for a room cooler, and keep the doors open for good ventilation.

  • Sonali

I am staying at Navi Mumbai in sidco building. These are totally RCC work. Room size is 20x10feet.height around 12feet. I am on last floor so more heat in afternoon from terrace.please suggest mi best cooler

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Sonali,

Air Coolers are not very effective in Mumbai. The climate is humid and air coolers add to humidity. Do you really want to go for an air cooler?

    • Sonali

then what should i do? i i take AC then it is affect on electric bill. is it good to take AC? but cost also more. now i head some air cooler with humidifier..
      shall it work for mumbai?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Air Coolers come with humidity control feature, but that is only to regulate the amount of water that goes on the cooling pads. But still air coolers are based on adding humidity to air to cool warm-dry air. If you still want to go for an air cooler, then you may look at these:

Symphony Touch 35 Air cooler (35-Litre) (White) (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2nmn9zM )
Symphony Siesta (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2nmx742 )

    • Sonali

what is better for my room air cooler or AC ?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

AC would be better in mumbai.

    • Sonali

but AC is to much costly as compare with air cooler. also electricity bill is matter. what about Air cooler with humidity controller? is it effective?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Sonali,

I cannot guarantee how effective they would be. In general it is not recommended to go for air coolers when climate is humid. Symphony Touch models it seems are better with humidity. You may try this one:

Symphony Touch 35 Air cooler (35-Litre) (White) (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2nmn9zM )

Hi – Abhishek. I have an open dining, living and kitchen area about 300-400 sq feet. My entire house would be 700-800 square feet. I want a cooler mainly for the open area but wouldn’t mind if something is strong enough for the entire house. I am thinking of purchasing Ram Cooler Duct 780 or 1100. Which one would be better? And with or without honeycomb? I have some concerns about honeycomb as people say they do not cool as well as normal khus. I live in Delhi and on the top first floor – it gets very hot in summers. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Abhishek, I want to gift an air cooler to my cousin who stays in karwar which is a coastal town which is on the Goa Karntaka border. The temp. will be similar to Goa. Just wanted to confirm if an air cooler would be useful and is it worth buying an air cooler.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hello Mr Dattatray,

Coolers are in general not very useful in Humid conditions. It is better to go for air conditioner in humid places.

  • Afrin

Hi abhishek, I stay in Nashik (maharashtra) want to purchase air cooler.. The climate of Nashik is not too hot… I just need the usage of air cooler for 3 mts to 4mths maximum.. My room size is 10’height, 15′ L x B. My budget is max 15k..plz suggest me a good air cooler.. And one more Q can the dessert cooler be installed on window having grills…

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Afrin,

Dessert cooler can certainly be installed on window having grills. But you will not find much details about desert coolers online as most of those are manufactured and sold by local manufacturers and dealers. Ram Cooler is the only know brand in that space.

If you want room cooler, then you may look at these:

      Symphony DiET 12i (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2nfeaQB )
Symphony Ice cube i (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2o6LKWw )
Kenstar Cyclone (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2nTIcrk ) …. this one is for a slightly bigger room, but will still work great for your room as well.

  • ravi

hi! im from ahmedabad. which is the best brand in air coolers? are voltas coolers better than symphony? my budget is 12k max. which models you suggest?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Ravi,

Choice of cooler depends on room size. Also in general desert coolers (the one that sit on window) are better than room coolers. In general, you will not find great feedback on room coolers. But still if you want one, then Symphony in general is more popular. If you can tell your room size, I can give you a model no.

    • ravi

      room size is 15’x10′
      and what about voltas coolers?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Ravi,

Voltas is also a good brand. You can go for Voltas too.

Voltas VB-W40MH or Voltas VB-P15MH (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2nQFSl5 ) would be good enough for your usage.

    • ravi

      ok i have shortlisted 2 models symphony touch 35 & diet 22i
      which one is better?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Touch 35 has lot of air filters that are not there in diet 22i. In general reviews are also better for touch 35. So I think touch 35 is better.

  • Avishek

Hi!! Do you suggest the Symphony Cloud wall mounted cooler for living room dimensions 20 ft by 10 ft by 10 ft. I am from Kolkata.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

It looks quite good. But still it is a cooler. Will not be as effective as an air conditioner. Also will add to humidity.

  • Ashwant krishna

    Hi Abishek,
I live in chennai & I need an air cooler for my room which is less than 80 sq.ft (9 ft * 8.5 ft).
I saw u have mentioned Symphony Kaizen JR for rooms below 100 sq.ft. But that model seems to be very basic, if I could stretch my budget a little bit, what would you suggest me & also I cannot afford for an Air conditioner, so which model Air cooler would you suggest me please.

    Thank you,
    Ashwant krishna

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Ashwant,

You can look at these models:

      Symphony Diet 22i (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2mUQAc6 )
      Symphony Hicool i (Amazon Link: http://amzn.to/2mEKaMk )

But please note that air coolers cannot achieve the cooling levels of air conditioners. On top of it, these are room coolers, which in general are not as good as desert coolers (which are better in terms of cooling). Desert Coolers are those that sit on the window. Your local desert cooler dealer can give you better cooling for far less cost as compared to these branded coolers. But then it has to sit on a window.

However, as I see that you are in Chennai, which has a humid climate. So in that case, air coolers will not be very effective in general. Coolers work well in dry climates.

    • Ashwant krishna

Thank you for the quick reply, also is it best to keep the sealing Fan turned ON or OFF while using an Air Cooler?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Air Coolers can give enough air that you need not use ceiling fans at all. It is good to keep it off, especially if you get direct sunlight on the roof.

  • Ratan

Please suggest me the most efficient coolers for counter the 45-50 degree

i wanted the metal body cooler with air humidity control in south delhi. for 450 sq ft house .plz let me know the brand and where it will be buy from.is duct cooler is good for home or desert cooler. can u plz tell me the difference between desert cooler and duct cooler. and which type of cooling pads is best to cool room fastly

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

In Duct Cooler, the air comes through a duct (pipes). You install it somewhere away from the room so that the room does not get too much sound. You can also direct the air to multiple rooms using a duct. Honey Comb cooling pads are better in general. I would suggest that you find a good metal body cooler in local market as most available online are plastic body.

  • Hitesh Katakiya

    Sir,

I want some clarification from your side to know the better knowledge about AC.

I have bought a BLUE STAR INVERTER AC of 1.5 Tonne, model no. 5CNHW18PAFU,.

My question is that the company provide a Suction pipe with outer diameter 15.88mm(5/8″) with this 1.5 tonne inverter ac, but the installation engineer, who came for installation of AC, is installed a 9.58mm(3/8″) outer diameter suction pipe in place of 15.88mm. as per him, there is no change in the effect of cooling and consumption of electricity due to installation of this pipe of 9.58mm(3/8″), but company is just providing any diameter pipe for suction purpose.

So, is there any negetive effect due to this 9.58 mm pipe with 1.5 tonne inverter AC or there is no effect. Is there any meaning to providing 15.88mm pipe?

Please reply me as soon as you read, i am eagerly waiting.

    Thanks in advance

    Hitesh Katakiya

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

As per the documentations from Bluestar ( http://bluestarindia.com/roomacs/pdf/bluestar.pdf page 47 and 48) your model should have 15.88 mm pipe. 9.58 is for 1 ton AC and not for 1.5 ton. I think he should use the one that is in the specifications. It can certainly impact performance.

I live in delhi and planning to buy an air cooler but some of my friends say that coolers dont work in and i should go for an ac. would symphony diet coolers such as diet 8i, 12i, or 22i will serve to my need and if yes which one. I mean to ask company says 8i cools upto 800 cu. feet, 12i upto 1000cu. feet but what’s the real value upto which they cool a room? and 8i and 12i both have same blower dia and same power consumption. are they nearly the same? can i use any of the two? i live in 4th, i.e., the top floor of the building and the size of my room is approx. 100-120sq. ft.. plz help me with it….

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Cooler cannot cool as much as what an AC can do. You really need to know if you want cooling of an AC or will cooling of a cooler be sufficient for you. In Delhi cooler can be good most of the time in a year (just that in peak summer it feels insufficient). However, you should not go for a room cooler and better opt for a desert cooler as a desert cooler is far more effective than a room cooler. Desert cooler is one that sits on a window rather than the one that goes around in the room.

How do you select a dehumidifier?

It uses refrigerant gas, so what is its principle and how does it work?

How does it differ from Air Conditioner?

How much is the electricity consumption? and the costs?

Are there suppliers, other than AMFAH in India?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Dehumidifier does not necessarily use refrigerant. There are Desicannt Dehumidifers that do not use refrigerant.

A refrigerant vaporises at a temperature lower than normal room temperature. A compressor compresses the refrigerant to convert it into liquid. And when this liquid refrigerant comes in contact with the air in the room, it takes heat from the air in the room and vaporises. And when it takes heat from room air, the water vapor in the room also cools down and converts to liquid water. That is how it dehumidifies.

One with refrigerant will not be very different from air conditioner.

I am not sure of suppliers of the same in India.

    Hello,
    Really nice and informative articles…
I have one query. As you said, Fiber body fan have smaller cooling pad area. Can you elaborate what is exact difference between steel and fiber body fan?
Is there any effect on cooling or air flow distribution?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Niraj,

The article talks about fiber body for the cooler not for the fan. In general coolers with galvanized steel body are better than coolers with fiber body. Steel body coolers are efficient in cooling and they have bigger cooling pads as well.

All coolers create humidity. But yes metal body is better as it helps in heat exchange.

  • Saurbh Srivastav

    Hello.
I am from Kanpur, i am planing to go for duct cooling system, i already have two cooler in my house but due to compacted construction i can not find any outside window to in-stroll them , cooler configuration (1)- 18inch 1400 rpm power consumption 390 wts (vansal) (2)- 18 inch 900 rpm, not aware of power consumption (vansal) , (ground floor)rooms where i want to in-stroll duct dont have cross ventilation as they are last room of house. i want to design a single line of duct from terrace of 1st floor to ground floor and further divide in two room for cooling
now duct person is saying i require 900 rpm 24 inch cooler for duct , but if i buy that my old cooler will be of no use. please suggest me can i add my both cooler in single duct at terrace and divide it for cooling of two room. is it possible & effective

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Saurabh,

For cooling from a cooler, the most important thing is air flow rate. Depending on the size of the rooms, you should get the right air flow rate (as given above) from the duct. I am not aware of the ducting design, but then there is a complete science behind duct design: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/design-ventilation-systems-d_121.html …. my guess is that the duct sizes can be altered to get the right air flow rate. But I guess a good engineer can only measure and tell if you can do with your existing coolers or not.

  • Riju Thomas

    Hello Abhishek,
Would you be able to do a review on the following products from Vaayu India?
    Vaayu Classic
    Vaayu Smart

The company is claiming that this is a hybrid air cooler with a built in compressor to chill the water and hence its efficient enough to deliver cooling similar to an Air conditioner.

I am from Kerala and they don’t have outlets here. But I Would like to buy one from Bangalore or Delhi if this is as energy efficient as they say.
If their claims are right, then it would be a boon for people like me as my last electricity bill creeped up to Rs 5500/- due to AC usage.

    Thanks in advance,
    Riju

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

I have not heard much about it, so I would not be able to comment on the efficiency and technology of the coolers. But from what I saw on their website. It looks like a cooler and will add to humidity of the room (if you are in a humid place).

  • Radhasut

    Hello Abhishek ji,
Place: Mumbai. The requirement is basically for kitchen (14 ft x 9 ft x 10 ft height), where you cannot use overhead fan, so we thought of standing fan and got it upgraded to air cooler, which can be used in other rooms (14 ft x 12 ft x 10 ft height) for about 4 hours.
Now that you have mentioned issues with humidity, can you recommend a fan/cooler , which will serve the purpose.
    Thank you,

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

A cooler does not work well in Mumbai. It will add to humidity in an already humid kitchen.

  • Nitin

    Hi Abhishek,
i have a room 12×15 room and after analysing a lot i zeored out “bajaj Room Cooler PX 97 Torque” room cooler. Can you please share your feedback for this cooler.
    Regards,
    Nitin

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Nitin,

Bajaj has not published lot of specs for this model which makes it difficult to comment on this model. From whatever is published, the cooler is right sized for your room. It has plastic body and is movable, so it is more like a room cooler. In general Desert coolers (ones those are kept out on the window) are better for cooling. Also a galvanized steel body is better. The model also does not have a humidity control mechanism (humidity control is especially useful if you live in a humid place).

  • Sudarshan Bihani

    Hi Abhishek..
    I m Sid from Pune
I hv bought a Ram cooler (Model Duct 330) this season. My room size is 175 sq.ft. I hv put it in balcony and even if its a dessert cooler its not cooling effectively. I m also using exaust fan but results hv not improved much. Its having wood wool ( i guess thats what they call it). I had experienced coolers at my uncles place in MP where these coolers use to make room amazingly cool. What do I do for better performance. Is changing the pads of a new cooler to Honey comb ones is a good idea..? Kindly help..

      Hi Sid,

Desert Coolers work the best when the weather outside is hot and dry. In MP it is very much like that. But pune would not be very hot and very dry. It is difficult to get the same kind of impact in pune. Is it becoming too humid in the room on using the cooler? Is there humidity control feature in the cooler?

  • Sunny

    Hi Abhishek,

I live in Mumbai city, and looking for an air cooler instead of an air conditioner for our living room of 200 sq ft. With Humidity ranging in between 70-80% in the area, would you advise going for an air cooler? If so, can you please suggest a few brands / models?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Sunny,

Air Coolers are not very effective in humid areas as they increase humidity. So ideally I would not suggest going for air cooler in Mumbai. If you still need some suggestions then you may look at these models that have humidity control:

      Havells Fresco or Frescoi
Bajaj PC 2000 DLX or TT 2011

Abhishek and group, thanks for all the valuable info. My 7 year old Kenstar Vibrant broke down and spare parts were not available with Kenstar in Bangalore. With your help I bought a Ram Coolers Smart 240. It looks like a vintage supercomputer (that’s a plus) and is also very energy efficient, rated at 105 watts. Cooling is far better than any plastic/fiber body cooler. However they suggested me to go with the woodwool version instead of honeycomb (240H) as they claim cooling is better with woodwool if the pads are thicker and the wool is loosely packed, as with their coolers. The woodwool model is also much cheaper, although honeycomb pads last longer.

  • Lakshmi

Iam from hydeeabad. Is there any way to decrease the sound of an air cooler.? I bought Duct 470 of RAM Coolers and it is damn noisy to sleep or even while awake

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

I Lakshmi, I hope you are not using a duct cooler as a room cooler (keeping it inside the room) or a window cooler. Duct coolers are meant to be used with Ducts just like how centralized ACs are put up. They are kept outside the house (sometimes on terrace) and aluminium piping is done to get cold air in the room. If you keep it in the room or on window, it would be noisy as they have high RPM fans.

  • kashyap

Hi, i am Gitu from Guwahati, Assam. Are air coolers effective for the place? If so, which one would u suggest? Will it be effective throughout the year?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Gitu,

I am not sure if air cooler will be effective in Guwahati. If it is hot and humid, then it would be less effective. From what I know, Assam in general is surrounded by hills. But then being close to Bramhaputra river, it does get humid. So I am not sure if it would be effective or not.

Also to recommend something, it is important for me to know the size of the room where you will put the cooler.

  • Prince

Hi! Is it true that air coolers inside the room affect the electronic gadgets like computer, television? If yes, then is there anyway to minimize the damage? Thanks.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

They do generate a lot of humidity. If your gadgets do not have good ingress protections, then they would get damaged for sure.

    • Prince

It might sound stupid but is there any way to protect the computer? My computer and air cooler are kept near the window. If I move the cooler away, it does not cool properly. Please suggest. Thanks so much!

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Prince,

I am sorry, I am not aware of anything to protect the computer. Ideally the computer itself should have good ingress protection (which most branded ones have).

  • Raju Nune

Hi Abhishek, do you know how the below brand works????http://vaayuindia.com/

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

I do not have much idea about this brand.

  • Vaishali Pawar

    Hi,
Is there a air cooler which can operate without water. Please suggest one with a size of room of 10 x 10.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

The best that you can do is use one that has ice chamber. These models have ice chamber:

      Kenstar Glam 15R (KCT1RF4H-EBA)
      Kenstar Glam 22R (KCT2RF4H-EBA)
      Orient Smartcool DX CP2002H
      Symphony DiET 12i

  • Vishal

    Hello,
I live in Kolkata where climate is very humid. Please suggest a cooler for our drawing room of around 400 sq. ft.
    Thanks

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Vishal,

In general coolers are not very effective in humid places. However, if you still want to go for a cooler, then it is better that you go for one with Humidity control feature. With this feature you can control the amount of water that goes on to the pads. Lesser volume can reduce humidity caused by the cooler. You can look at these models:

Havells: Freddo, Freddo t or Freddo i

  • Sathishkumar

Dear Friends, I am living in Delhi. I am looking to buy a cooler to counter the summer temp, over here. But some of my friends and the various blogs had informed me that the coolers causes a lot of health problems including Asthma. I am confused now. Please guide me.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Sathish,

Everyone has different health conditions and it is very difficult to generalize that coolers can cause Asthama. When I was a kid, we used to use a lot of coolers. In my hometown people still use coolers and I have never heard of people getting Asthama. It is a question only a medical practitioner can answer.

    • Sathishkumar

      Thank you Abhishekji….

  • santhosh kumar S

Hi, I am staying in top floor in my Bangalore residence. Due to direct exposure to sun light, celling heats so much that it is impossible to stay inside as heat diffuses whole night. Please suggest good cooler for my living room with open kitchen.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Santhosh,

I cannot suggest anything without knowing the size of the room and your budget. We have listed top coolers by room size on the tables mentioned above. My recommendations will mostly be from that only.

  • Helan

Hello, desert coolers will be suitable inside the living room? Planning to buy orient smartcool dx cp2002h, is any other product comparatively equal or good than this product? Budget 6-7k.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

What is the size of the living room? You can use desert cooler inside the room, but coolers are most effective when they are put on the window and they cool the hot and dry air from outside.

  • Mohan

Does the RAM Cooler have Bangalore dealers?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Not sure. But they do sell online.

  • Aman

    Hi,
I am from Ludhiana (Punjab).Temperature goes beyond 45 in peak summer.I am Looking for air cooler for living room having open kitchen. The cooler is kept inside the living room.Area of living room is 20*20 Plus Kitchen 10*12 having 10 feet height.Looking for a air cooler that can kept entire area cool.Budget is not a constraint.According to my research i convince with following two models having plastic body which is fine as it is placed inside living room
1.Usha Honeywell CL 70PE (Desert Cooler)
    2.Voltas VA-D70M (Desert Cooler)
Both have humidity control and ice chamber feature.Humidity control feature may help in July to September months.
    So, i want to know
1.Whether Desert Cooler kept inside Living room
2.Are Desert Cooler NOISY Specially these two models as they both have DOUBLE POWERFUL BLOWER (if yes than i Cant able to hear TV)
3.Please Suggest the best model for my requirement Between these two or else which you feel good.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Aman,

To cool both the room and the kitchen, the orientation of the cooler should be such that there is air flow to both the rooms. You can look at any cooler suitable for about 500-600 sq ft room.As for your questions, here is my response:

      1) Desert cooler is one that should be kept outside the room. You need a room cooler if you want to keep it in the room. Desert cooler work well when the air outside is hot and dry. But room coolers have to work with humid air inside the room. Desert coolers in general cool better.

      2) Coolers in general are noisy. Especially if they are big ones that need to cover larger area.

    • Aman

      Hi Mod,
      Thanks for your quick response.
Please suggest the suitable room cooler for my above requirement.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      You can look at

      Ram Coolers Utsav 380
      Havells Koolaire 60
      Ram Coolers Eco 250
      Symphony Winter
      Orient Tornado Grand CH6002B

  • Prince

Hi! I am looking for an air cooler (to be kept inside the room) for a relatively large size room (14×14). It should be plastic body with honeycomb pads. Common choice is Symphony but after reading lot of negative reviews about its motor etc. I am not sure about this particular brand. Thinking of Havells or Crompton Greaves as these companies have been in electrical appliances for quite long and probably make their own motors. Please suggest some specific models and if possible do tell us about Havells and Crompton Greaves. Thanks.

    • Dj

How about orient? Is that not a good choice?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Based on the filter in the table given above (and as shown in the image attached), you can try

      Usha Honeywell CL48PM

      Havells Koolaire 40

      Orient Snowbreeze Roto CD3001H

    • abhishek jain

    • Dj

      600 sqt

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Ram Coolers have the most efficient range of coolers for that size a room. However you can also look at Havells Koolaire 60. Orient is also a good brand, but the list above is based on energy efficiency.

    • Dj

Thank you Abishek. This site is awesome !!!

What is the size of your room?

  • Shekhar

Hello, I’m looking for a movable big air cooler (plastic body) in Bangalore. The requirement is for a large hall and bedroom. I’ve come to know Symphony is the best brand in air coolers and shortlisted Symphony Winter/Winter i & Symphony Storm 70i but there are a lot of negative reviews about Storm 70i viz. it’s too noisy and cooling is not impressive. Please suggest the appropriate model.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hello Mr Shekhar,

The choice of cooler depends on the size of the room. You have to look at the size and then accordingly decide on the cooler that gives appropriate air delivery. We have listed top most energy efficient models of coolers available in market in the table above on this page. The categorization is by room size. You can check the size of your rooms and then accordingly look at the most efficient models. In general Ram Coolers, Symphony, Voltas, Kenstar are some good brands.

    • Shekhar

Thank you Mr Abhishek. Please guide the following:
      1. Fan vs Blower based air cooler, which is better?
      2. Tower vs Desert Cooler, which is better?
      3. Opting a relatively bigger cooler for a small place, will give better cooling?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Here is my response:

      1. The difference between fan and blower is that fans produce air flow with less pressure and larger air volume, while blowers produce a relatively higher pressure ratio with the larger air volume flow. So because of more pressure, air from blower can cover a longer distance. Finally the choice depends on what you like: air with more pressure on your body or cooler but low volume environment. Cooling wise the one that covers more distance will cool a larger space faster.

      2. Desert Coolers are in general better as they are placed outside the window and take fresh air from outside. And the cooling pads are quite effective.

      3. It will just give more air. I don’t think it will give better cooling.

    • Shekhar

Thank you Mr Abhishek. Please guide how’s Symphony Storm 70i. Also, should it be kept outdoor or indoor and is the blower too noisy?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hello Mr Shekhar,

Symphony is a good brand and they have efficient models as well. But I have heard from people that there are several complaints for Symphony on ecommerce sites. I would suggest going for Ram Cooler or Voltas.

Keeping outdoor is the best because cooler is most effective when it takes hot and dry air from outside, cools it and throws it inside. But sometimes people have constraint so they use room coolers. Both fan and blower can be noisy depending on how much more air delivery do they have.

    • Shekhar

      Thank you Mr Abhishek.

  • Dj

Which is the best air cooler for Chennai condition. Symphony or Ken star which gives more cooling. I am having baby. Please suggest.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Both are equally good. Brands do not have city-specific models. They all make similar things. If you need one with steel body, go for Ram Coolers, if plastic body is fine, you can choose any other brand. Cooling will depend on cooling pad and air delivery. Choose HoneyComb pad for better cooling and choose air delivery as per your room size. Details are there on this page.

    • Dj

Does all honeycomb cooling media have ice chambers?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Ice Chamber and Honeycomb cooling medium are two different and unique features. You can get an air cooler with honeycomb cooling media with ice chamber or without ice chamber and vice versa.

    • Dj

Thank you Mr.Jain.Any best product that you suggest under 6 or 7k?

    Hi Abhishek,
I am looking for a best cooler, I stay in hospet karnataka and here maximum tempearture is 40 and humidity is not much may be max 33 so which cooler can i plan to buy? My requirements are
    1) The room size will be 14*11 feet max
    2) I am expecting cooling almost equal to ac(I think coolers with ice tray will help for this)
    3) Which brand is good and which model of that brand
    4) budget upto 10k

    • Mohammed Imran

      waiting for reply

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

      Hi Imran,

We have given a list of top most efficient air coolers as well as list of all air coolers available in market in the post above. You can refer to the same. Based on the list these models can be good for you:

      Symphony DiET 12i
      Havells Koolaire 40
      Orient Snowbreeze Roto CD3001H

I don’t think coolers can give cooling close to an AC. But these models do have ice chamber.

  • Jayanth

    Hi Team,

I’m from Hyderabad and i want to buy a cooler, room size is 10ft x 11ft x 10ft. Temperature during summer ranges between 40 to 45 degrees Celsius. Humidity during is around 25 to 30%.Can you please suggest some good, low noise air cooler ?

  • Ashish Agrawal

Kindly suggest Air cooler for 340 Sq ft hall with no direct sun light except western wall which in fact will work as ventinlator. I will prefer a noiseless or with lesser noise and with humid control feature. Budget is not constraint but will avoid AC. Location : Outskirts of Gurgaon where temperature can reaches up to 46C.

  • deba

    Hi Team,

I am from north Mumbai , during summer the temp rises to 40 degree Celsius with humidity around 50-70%.

Air displacement of my room is 800 cubic feet/min.

I have a budget constraints and had made my my mind to go for air coolers instead of AC’s.

Could you please suggest some good air coolers?

    Thanks in Advance!!!

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Air Coolers are not very effective in Mumbai as they just increase humidity. You either have to go for an air cooler that can run on Ice or one that has humidity control (although even that is not super effective as compared to AC). You can look at Symphony Coolers, Kenstar, Bajaj or Ram Coolers. These brands are good. Symphony also has a calculator to select product: http://www.symphonylimited.com/products/SearchSuitableCooler.aspx

    1. Should be easy to move
    2. Noiseless
    3. Less elctricity consumption.
    4. remote

    I have visited shop and liked 1. Symphony 35i 2. kenstar glam 35r -both 35 litres .

Which one you suggest or any other model plz ?

  • Murali Sankar

Hi, I’ve been advised that air coolers harm electronic equipments inside the room and anything that absorb moisture will get destroyed in the presence of air cooler. Is it true?

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

There is something called as IP rating of electronics which represents their moisture protection (we have explained it for LED lights over here: https://www.bijlibachao.com/lights/led-lightning-outdoor-enclosure-of-led-ip-rating-encasing-ip55-ip65-lm80-lm79-buying-led-bulbs.html). You will have to understand the IP ratings of the appliances. Most good brands have good IP ratings.

    • https://www.bijlibachao.com Abhishek Jain

Air Coolers do generate a lot of humidity in the room. If anything can get harmed by moisture, then air coolers are not good for it certainly. All depends on what kind of electronic components do you have. Many TVs these days come with moisture protection.

  • Ashish

Greetings, I am Ashish, Director of Hotel Accord, Mumbai. With high prices of electricity and concern for global warming, we decided to change from window A/c to Inverter A/cs with R 32 Gas. As this gas is the most green gas available in the market. These machines are also Known to extremely efficient. So we had to just test it ourselves. So we put a meter to similar rooms A/cs. One with Window A/c (1tonne), another with 2star Split (1.5 tonne) and another with an inverter(1.5 tonne). We did a 24 hour run on all three. The window A/c Consumed a staggering 14 units in 12 hours. whereas the split A/c consumed 10 units and the inverter 5.2 units. What makes me wonder is i wanted to do calculations on my electricity bills and needed help. i also want to calculate return on investment. can someone help me with the same?

further details. price of electricity is a whopping 14Rs per unit here in Mumbai

please feel free to email me on [email protected]

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hello Mr Ashish,

As you have a hotel, my guess is that the AC will be used round the year for 10-12 hours per day on an average. As you have done calculations for 12 hours, based on that the numbers come out like this:

Price Electricity Units (12 hrs) Electricity Bill (Monthly) Electricity Bill (in 1 yrs assuming usage of 12 months)
      Window AC 28000 14 5880 70560
      Split AC 32000 10 4200 50400
      Inverter Tech AC 42000 5 2100 25200

Inverter AC should payback in less than a year if your usage is about 12 hrs a day and throughout the year. If it is less then it will take max 2 years.

    • Ashish

Sorry i posted in the wrong page….admin could you please post somewhere where inverters are discussed?

  • Aroopjyoti

I Aroopjyoti from Jorhat ,Assam searching an aircooler for my 14*15*11 size room. Here in market 2 types aircoolers are available. One is Usha Honeywell CL 48PM 40 litre & Bajaj DC ICON 2015 43 litre aircooler. Plz inform me which one is good for me?

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Aroop,

Both the models are huge and are for 600 sq ft sized rooms. Are you getting only these two? A smaller air cooler would be better.

  • Bakshi

Why the cooler with honey comb pad gives smell while running.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Bakshi,
Almost all coolers give smell while running. It is the smell of khus.

    • Bakshi

You are talking about wood wool smell. I would like to know why Honey comb pad (Imported paper pad) gives smell.

  • Somnath Shenoy

Kindly let me know about your opinion of portable coolers that is used inside room. Should we keep it near window or away from it? can the windows be opened? I am talking about CL 601PM and CL48PM model cooler of Usha Honeywell

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Somnath,

Ideally a desert cooler that is kept outside the window is best to cool a room. If you have a movable cooler, it will be better if it is kept out of the window. But if that is also not possible then keeping it near the window would be good. If it takes dry air from outside and pushes it inside, then that will feel better.

    • Somnath Shenoy

How will be the performance of cooler if the bore well water(contains salt) is used?

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hello Mr Shenoy,

Not very sure of that. You may certainly have to prevent the cooler from scaling and corrosion if the water is hard.

Pl suggest should I install centralized air cooler in our upcoming banquet hall of 6000 sq ft. even humidity is also higher in west Bengal

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Jeetu,

Air Coolers do not work well in high humid areas, so I doubt that a centralized air cooler will work well.

  • Rahul Mehrotra

Hi, I would like to know the option of air cooler with a duct. Will it work if I place the air cooler on the terrace and attach a duct to it which can cool my living room of area 20×15. If yes then please suggest the size of the air cooler.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

Air Cooler can certainly work with a duct. In fact it can make it a “quiter” option for you. You just need to make sure that the air delivery of the cooler is about 2500-3000 cu m/hr (or may be slightly more).

  • Sanjeev Kumar Jha

which cooler is better for cooling blower cooler or fan cooler

    • Bijli Bachao Team

The difference between fan and blower is that fans produce a air flow with less pressure and larger air volume, while blowers produce a relatively higher pressure ratio with the larger air volume flow. So because of more pressure, air from blower can cover a longer distance. Finally the choice depends on what you like: air with more pressure on your body or cooler but low volume environment. Cooling wise the one that covers more distance will cool a larger space faster.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Bhaskar,

Air Coolers do not work well in humid conditions. At best they give some comfort to the person sitting in front of it. But that is also not super cool or super comfortable.

Considering the Humidity factor, and features like a Remote control etc. Please suggest me a safe Air cooler ( as i have heard that Air Coolers sometimes cause Breathing problems, resulting in Asthma)

Hi BB TEAM, BETWEEN Crompton Greaves Mystique Dlx TAC 341 AND SYMPHONY DIET 50i which one to choose pls suggest, thanks

    • Bijli Bachao Team

Both have exactly similar specs and are good for a 200-250 sq ft room. Symphony has extra remote control while CG one consumes 30 watts less. It truly depends on your brand choice as both are good brands. Just from a BB perspective we would say go for Crompton Greaves Mystique Dlx TAC 341 :).

  • Anita

Hello, I live in Delhi and I’m considering an air cooler for my huge living cum dining room (34 feet by 14 feet). Which cooler of what capacity is suited for such a room. Also, shouldn’t a cooler be put against a window with wooden boards closing any gaps? I’m surprised this is not mentioned in your article or am I wrong? I once got a room cooler which heated up the room rather than cooled it and the shop keeper said it should have been placed at the window. Please advise.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Anita,

There are two type of coolers:- a) Desert Cooler: which is put on a window and it takes outside air, cools it and throws it in. b) Room Cooler: this is a movable type of cooler that remains inside the room. It takes indoor air only and tries to cool it.

The 2nd type of cooler keeps rotating indoor air and works well only when the air inside the room is quite dry. However a Desert Cooler (the one placed on window) works well in most cases as they take dry air from outside and cool it and throw it in. It does not add to a lot of humidity inside the room as it takes dry air from outside. For cooling a full room Desert Cooler is much better as compared to movable room cooler. Room Coolers are best when you want flexibility of taking it from one place to another and also if you just want to provide comfort to people sitting in front of it.

If you put a Desert Cooler (on the window), closing the gaps will certainly be important as you want the air coming inside the room to come through the cooling medium. Any gap will let hot air seep in which will not provide good comfort. So certainly for desert cooler you do need a proper packing.

Now do help us understand: are you looking for a desert cooler or for a movable room cooler? For your hall you need a cooler that has at least 4000-4500 Cu Mtr/hr air delivery.

    • Anita

Thank you so much for the reply- I understand now. Could you help with a recommendation for both desert cooler and movable room cooler?

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi,

If you are looking for Desert Coolers then you can look at:

Ram Coolers Eco 555 or Gold 555 (both have galvanized steel body which is long lasting and durable).

For room cooler you can look at:

Crompton Greves AQUA DLX-(CG-DAC502 DLX) or ORCHID -(CGAC171) or ICE COOL DLX ( CG-DAC651 DLX)
      Ram Coolers SMART 550H
      Orient Ocean Air CD7001H

  • RS

    Hi,
My living area (hall +dining) is 16*34 ft , other that I have an open kitchen connected to the dining which is 10*12 Ft. The ceiling height is 11 feet. Is the area/volume to high for using an air cooler? If not can you suggest a good one. I live in Chennai.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

You can also look at Orient Tornado Grand CH6002B. It has ice chamber. Using ice can be better instead of using water in humid areas.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi,

Do you want to cool the hall + dining or even the kitchen area? You can go for a bigger cooler for the hall which has appropriate air delivery. Just for the hall + dining you can go for a cooler with air delivery value of about 5000 cum/hr. Something like: Bajaj Room Cooler PX 95 AC or Room Cooler PX 93 DC DLX. But please note, Air Coolers are not very effective in humid areas.

    • RS

Thanks for your suggestions. Somewhere, down I saw you had mentioned humidity control air cooler . Will that work , and can I use it just for the hall area. But I would like to mention that there is no physical partition between kitchen , dining and hall. Will that affect that the cooling in the hall area?

    • Bijli Bachao Team

Bajaj Room Cooler PX 95 AC has humidity control in it. Well I think kitchen will get some cooling effect, but while cooking it will not feel as good as during the times when no cooking is happening. Keeping the kitchen windows closed can help in cooling the kitchen as well. The air delivery is considered just to make sure that the whole area is covered. Otherwise cooling from air coolers is not highly dependent on indoor volume.

  • Nayan

Hi, I live in South Mumbai….could you pls suggest which air cooler would be good for this summer. Should I go for

Orient Actus 30 ltr CP3001H Air Cooler – which has an ice chamber also

    OR

    should I go for

    Symphony Ninja Air Cooler

or any specific that you recommend

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Nayan,

For south mumbai it is better to go for an air cooler that has ice chamber. Orient Actus 30 ltr CP3001H Air Cooler would be better in that case.

    • Nayan

Thank you for all your assistance BB Team

  • sateesh yadav

Sir, I live in Hyderabad. I want to buy a cooler for my home (2romes). Which cooler will be best buy for me?

    • Bijli Bachao Team

What will be the size of the rooms?

  • Praveen

Hi… BB Team, Recently i shifted my flat in Chennai, the hall size is 14ft X 16ft.. I have two fans running but the air is not reaching the sofa, as the fan points are far away… I thought of buying an air cooler which i can keep it closer to the sofa… Kindly help me i have no knowledge of it or give me a solution… I cant put an ac as there are lot of opening space from hall to kitchen (No door)…

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Praveen,

You should go for a cooler with humidity control option as Chennai is quite humid, you may also look at a cooler that has an ice chamber (as using ice in a cooler can be as effective as air conditioner). You can look at these coolers:

Bajaj Room Cooler PC 2000 DLX (has humidity control option)
Bajaj Room Cooler TT 2011 (has humidity control option)
Orient Super Cool CP3001H (has ice chamber)
Orient Smartcool DX CP2002H (has ice chamber)

  • mohit

I mohit frm Faridabad. My room size 12 x 12. I search a best cooler for my room.. but I hv no any window for adjust a desert cooler. I adjust only a room at any comfort cornor. Yesterday I see oreint cooler at marketin 2 models oreint Ocean and snowbreez slim.. its better for size to adjust my room. So pls suggest me its better or not… if not so recommended to any others…
    Pls rply ASAP

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Mohit,

As per you room size a 1300 m3/hr air displacement air cooler would be good (and energy saving). The models you have mentioned have air displacement of 3000 m3/hr which is good enough for cooling 300-350 sq ft room. If you are looking at Orient then you can look at Orient Snowbreeze Roto CD3001H or Super Cool CP3001H. The cooling medium in these coolers is Honeycomb which is quite efficient. Their power consumption is also quite reasonable.

  • Satyanarayana Karri

    Hi Admin,
    Thanks for your valuable information.
I am Satyanarayana from Vizag. could you please suggest a best cooler in price range of 6000-9000 for a room 13*11*11.
As per your previous suggestions. i came to know “Symphony HiCool Smart i” is better. Please kindly let me know the other best models.

    Thanks
    Satya

    • Bijli Bachao Team

You can look at any of these:

      Ram coolers Smart 160
      Symphony Ninja
Bajaj Room Cooler PX 97 Torque

  • A. N MANE

    Hello,

Im from Navi Mumbai and looking for a cooler for regular sized room. It can get quite humid here btw. I was looking at the Symphony 22 ltr DIet 22 I air but the reviews aren’t upto the mark. Could you be kind enough to suggest one?

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Akshay,

Air Coolers add to the humidity and thus at best they provide comfort to the person sitting in front of it in Mumbai. Air Conditioners work the best in Mumbai. However if you are still keen on air coolers then you can look at these:

      Ram Coolers Smart 160
      Kenstar Little Cooler KCR12W3H-CEG
Bajaj Room Cooler PX 97 Torque
      Symphony Ninja

or you can even look at Symphony HiCool i that has humidity control option. The above mentioned coolers are for room size of about 150 sq ft. The kenstar model mentions that it is good for coastal regions as well.

  • RLS

Sir, very informative article and replies. Just one question, I live in Chandigarh which has variable humidity levels depending on season. from your article I have zeroed in on Cromp.greaves- CG-DAC502 DLX or CG TAC 201. Have I chosen right? If not please suggest the right option. I will be needing the cooler for a small room(8×10) and at times even a bigger room(15×20).

    • Bijli Bachao Team

Are you looking for 1 cooler or two coolers? For bigger room you would need bigger cooler and for smaller room smaller.

    • RLS

I am looking for one that will work for both the rooms.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

Your bigger room is 300 Sq Ft which needs about 1500 CFM cooler while smaller room is 80 sq ft which needs 400 CFM cooler. A 1500 CFM cooler will super cool the smaller room. It will be huge for that. However if you want a bigger cooler then you can certainly go for CG AQUA DLX-(CG-DAC502 DLX) as it has honeycomb cooling medium as well as has corrosion free body.

    • RLS

      Thank u.

  • Saurabh Jain

I live in noida. Not sure of humidity as recently shifted to noida. I have researched a lot on coolers & finalized Symphony Hi-cool I, symphony jumbo & kenstar turbocool. My room size is 10×12, ground floor & building has 4 floors. I was about to buy local fiber body cooler with exhaust for 3.3k but now thinking of buying branded. Please suggest as per the weather in noida. ALSO, AS PER THE REVIEWS I SAW OF SYMPHONY HICOOL I on snapdeal & other sites, IT’S HUMIDITY CONTROL DOESN’T WORK. But could u please tell me, if it really works.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Saurabh,

Humidity Control will not be required in Noida, so you need not worry about it. In fact Noida climate is quite dry and air coolers can do good. However desert coolers are the most effective in North (the ones that fit on the window). So would recommend you to look at desert coolers. However if you are looking for movable coolers then you may look at these:

      Ram coolers Smart 160
Bajaj Room Cooler PX 97 Torque
      Symphony Ninja
      Kenstar Little Cooler KCR12W3H-CEG

  • rajat goenka

Sir, I want to buy a cooler for my room of area 450 sq.ft. and height 10ft.I am living in a small town of bihar, where electricity is not so good, so we have dependecy on genrater for power. I have major concern of electric affecient equipments.I want portable air cooler. Your site helps me to undersrand about coolers, but I need your expert advice, which cooler will be best buy for me.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Rajat,

You may look at these air coolers for your room:

Crompton Greaves AQUA DLX-(CG-DAC502 DLX) or AQUA-(CG-DAC502)
      Khaitan Dezire 20
      Ram Coolers SMART 460

Out of these my recommendation would be Crompton Greaves AQUA DLX-(CG-DAC502 DLX) because it has corrosion free body and honeycomb pads. Its power consumption is also the least.

  • Bhupendra

ok thanks ! doing a great job…keep it up !

  • Bhupendra

keeping the air cooler inside the room with proper ventilation will cool the room ??

    • Bijli Bachao Team

It will not be very effective as heat will come from outside. However it can help in managing the humidity. If your room is not very humid then it can be good. If it is humid then you would need some ventilation. Frankly that is why air coolers do not work well in humid areas.

  • shabana ismail

    Hello BijaliBachao Team,

I am shabana from chennai, I have planned to buy a cooler for my baby yet to born next month.

We are staying in a room roof covers asphalted sheets with the area of 13×11×13 (L×B×H).

Could you please suggest me… Which model of cooler will suits for us.

    Thanks
    Regards
    Shabana Ismail
    Chennai

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Shabana,

Are you sure you want to go for an air cooler? Chennai is humid and air coolers are not very effective in humid climate. At best they can give comfort to person sitting in front of it. Also direct humid air may not be good for a baby. Just check with your pediatrician regarding the same.

  • Amit Doshi

    Hello BijaliBachao Team,

I liked your website and your articles give really genuine inputs.

I stay in Mumbai and was looking for air cooler (rather than AC) as an cost effective alternate. I was looking for my bed room sized 200 sq ft. I looked for many models; but based on the size and blower design; I feel Symphony Hi Cool would fit my requirement. However, I was not very sure of the following:

    1. Whether I should not consider air cooler (I have heard people saying in Humid area like Mumbai) it doesnt work well. But when I go to shops for buying I do not get that feedback. So need a genuine opinion from you.

    2. I was evaluating diet 22 model vs. Hi Cool of Symphony – so wanted to understand which one would be better as both of them have the capacity to cater to 200 sq ft room. So wanted your advise.

    Please help. Thank you.

    Best regards…Amit

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Amit,

You rightly heard that air coolers are not effective in Mumbai as the climate is quite humid and it just adds to humidity. You can use the ice chamber option in Hi Cool and use ice instead of water for cooling. Hi Cool also has humidity control option. We have seen air coolers being used at some place in Mumbai, however at best they give comfort to person sitting in front of the cooler and getting the draft of air. They do not cool the whole room.

  • deepak

    Hello there ;

Thanks for sharing informative & comprehensive detailing about virtually everything related to air/room coolers.
With all the branded & some un-branded ones as well ; more or less they definitely cool the place. If the rpm at the lowest speed can somehow be further reduced , there can be a reduction in noise quotient too.
Can the team guide , as for some fitments like fan regulator types ; so that the cooler fan speed can be lowered & the noise level can be reduced.

Hope to get some resolution at the earliest.

    – deepak

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hello Mr Deepak,

The fan used in air coolers is a regular induction motor fan and reducing the voltage for the same will certainly reduce the speed of the fan. You can certainly use regulators (like the ones available for regular fans) to alter the voltage and reduce the speed of the fan.

  • Ashok

    Hi,

I live in Kolkata with extreme humid climate. I would like to buy an air cooler which can tackle Kolkata’s climatic condition efficiently. I know Air condition is the best choice to use in Kolkata. But I can’t afford it. Please suggest me few brands (descending order, best one should be at the top in performance).

    Room Specification: 16*12*8 cubic ft.

Looking forward to your reply at the earliest.

    Thanks & regards,
    Ashok

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hello Mr Ashok,

Ideally air coolers are not good for humid climate. At best a movable cooler can give comfort to the person sitting in front of it. You may go for a cooler that has humdity control or can use ice for cooling. You may look at Symphony HiCool Smart i.

  • https://plus.google.com/101353767514152789867 Shivendra Singh

    Hi,
I am from delhi. I want a cooler to be kept inside the room (12x12x10, LxBxH). Earlier i tried a portable room cooler with KHUS pads. The room became so humid that i started to sweat in the room with cooler running.
Now please advice me a portable room cooler that can be kept in the room. What all things shall i look into the cooler. Please also advice me a cooler model and the reasons why should i buy it.
    Thanks
    Shivendra

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Shivendra,

Delhi is not too humid so I am not able to visualize why the room got so humid. May be there is no good ventilation in the room and the room is too packed. A portable cooler may not work well in your room unless there is good air circulation or unless you go with a cooler that can work on dry ice.

  • Ram

what is the difference b/w air cooler without water and with water ?

    • Bijli Bachao Team

I guess when you say without water, then you are using ice instead of water. In that case if you have dry ice then it will not cause a lot of humidity in the room, while regular ice may increase humidity. Water will certainly increase humidity in the room.

  • Aju

I live in Cochin, please advice air cooler for 300 sq.ft room..should I buy one with humidity controller and ice cube container..

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Aju,

Cochin would be quite humid and thus air coolers would not be able to cool the room effectively. At best it can give comfort to people sitting in front of it. If you want one with humidity control and ice chamber then you may look at Symphony Hi Cool Smart cooler http://www.symphonylimited.com/products/hicool-smart.html … however this is for a smaller room. We could not find one for a bigger room.

  • Karan

Hi, i am looking to cool 2 interconnected rrooms by installing a desert cooler outsite a window with the airflow passing through a straight line through an open door. Total volume is 3000cft. Any suggestions on model/brand? Metal or plastic body would be better?
    thanks…Karan, Delhi

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Karan,

In general a metallic cooler with galvanized steel body is a better option for desert cooler. Many big brands have plastic body but a galvanized steel body would be better. You may look at Ram Cooler’s range of galvanized steel body Air Coolers: http://www.ramcoolers.com/shop/desert-cooler-2/gold-370/

  • Manikandan

Hello , You guys are too good got so much information of this site but stil confused in choosing a right brand and model . I am from chennai , the hall size will be somewere between 150 to 200 Sqf checked in Symphony site but there are diff models , please adivce which one will be good.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Manikandan,

As you are in chennai it will be better to go for an air cooler that has humidity control feature. For 200 sq ft room Symphony HiCool Smart i should be good as it has humidity control feature as well. On symphony website, you can always use their calculator to calculate the right cooler size : http://www.symphonylimited.com/products/SearchSuitableCooler.aspx

Also a good thumb rule is to use room volume divided by 2 as the right CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute) value to choose the right air cooler. A few things that should be important for you:

      1) A honeycomb cooling medium is better than wood wool or aspen type.
      2) Choosing the right size (right CFM) and a decent sized tank.
      3) Look for humidity control feature as you live in a high humidity area.

Please note that desert coolers which are generally quite effective in most areas will not be very effective in chennai. For you the best would be to go for movable coolers that provide good comfort to individuals in front of the cooler. A cooler with ice chamber will be good as you can use dry ice to cool the room if humidity is causing a problem.

  • Frank

I am planning to buy a Air Cooler. Please tell me how well does the Air Coolers work in areas close to the sea where the climate is very hot and humid.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

Air Coolers at best give comfort to person sitting in front in hot and humid areas. A desert cooler (one put on the window) is the best for room cooling however it does not work well in hot and humid area. The only option for people in hot and humid area is to go for personal movable air coolers. One with an additional option of using Ice can be better as you can use dry ice for cooling.

  • RAFI

Its not so that im allergic to something as u said. I jus want to know about the blower. Does the blower has any opening towards the intake of cool air to send it out? For my Butterfly Wonder cooler i dont find any opening to take cool air and to send it out. its fully closed except the opening to send air.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Rafi,

Air Coolers are designed to take outdoor air, cool it and then send it in. They do not send air out. So not sure why it is causing headache.

  • Vinayak P. Kulkarni

I wish to buy air cooler which can be used indoor and outdoor also. The cooler to be used in my Terrace as well as in room. Kindly inform for which cooler I should opt.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

What is the room size that you want to cool?

    • Vinayak P. Kulkarni

240 sq. feet hall and if to be used outside 180-200 sq. feet Terrace.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Vinayak,

      You may look at these:

      Symphony Jumbo Jr
      Ram Cooler Smart 240H
      Crompton Greaves ODYSSEY-(CG-DAC452)

These would be sufficient for your hall as well as the terrace.

I hav bought Butterfly air cooler with blower type and i hav kept it out side the window to get fresh and cool air. Now the problem is i am getting headache when i use it. Wat cud be the reason for it. Is it the pads? or the blower? Kindly guide me to get rid of the problem.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Rafi,

You may be allergic to something. Not sure what. You may consult a doctor for the same.

  • Prashant Marwaha

Hi, Could you please explain the terms IPam and VPam.

    Regards,

  • Nilesh

    Hi

I am Nilesh. I am from Mumbai kindly suggest some air coolers for my 12*10 sqft bedroom with best humidity control.
I have already ask for this but nobody’s reply me on that.
Please suggest me something at this time.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Nilesh,

You can look at Symphony Hi Cool SMART Cooler (http://www.symphonylimited.com/products/hicool-smart.html). However it will not cool the whole room but will just provide cooling to the person sitting in front. Desert coolers that can cool the whole room are not effective in Mumbai.

  • Naveen

I want a best air cooler which is noiseless and has humidity control. Area is < 500 Sq.Feet

  • Rustamji

    Dear Sir,

Many thanks for your Apr. 6th reply to my room-cooler question. Your
site renders yeoman service to us all. Which prompts me to raise the
question: To further aid cooling, how about STARTING with sun-control
films on west facing windows to make life easier for the machine
inside the room, be it an ac or room-cooler.

On my west-facing balcony, years ago, I had an opaque black film
installed BUT when one is within a couple of feet of it, one feels it
radiating heat and it feels substantially hot when touched. I was
looking at Garware’s film charts but cannot appreciate ON WHICH OF THE
DETAILS IN THE INDIVIDUAL SPECIFICATION TO BASE MY SELECTION FOR HIGH
    HEAT REJECTION.

In my current non-reflective opaque black, the Total Solar Energy
Rejection is only 42%, the U factor is 1.12 & the Solar Energy
Absorbance is 49% ( as per specs for “NR BLACK 5”). In their High Heat
Rejection series, the HHR 25 has Total Solar Energy Rejection of only
65% and NIR Blocking at 1025 NM of 97%. Does this mean infra-red
blocking at that nanometer wavelength? Am told these films are very
expensive and to alternatively look at REFLECTIVE films, offered at
about Rs. 40/sq.ft., application cost included.

In this reflective series, would I be correct in assuming, based on
the Garware charts, that the SILVER R 20 with its Total Solar Energy
Rejection of 78%, U factor of 1.01 & Solar Energy Reflectance of 53%
WOULD BE THE MOST COST-EFFECTIVE HEAT REJECTING SOLUTION AT rs.
40/sq.ft.? My area of application would be circa 50 sq.ft. And what IS
this U Factor? It appears that with INCREASE of it, Total Solar Energy
Rejection DECREASES. ULTIMATELY, IS THE TSER FIGURE THE CORRECT ONE TO
LOOK AT FOR GOOD HEAT REJECTION, as in my case?

My thanks in anticipation of your well thought-out answer, AFTER
reference to Garware charts, which would be the FIRST line of
    resistance to blocking heat.

    With much regard,
    Rustamji.

    Hi
I am planning to buy an air cooler for my parents residing in Kolkata. Can u pls guide me as to which brand air cooler would work best considering the fact that the climate there is humid and very hot.
Apart from symphonys’s hi cool I air cooler, is there any other brand which offers humidity control feature? and also how does this feature work in controlling humidity of the surroundings?
And your article also mentions that to maintain the air cooler we should replace the cooling pads. How frequently should we change the cooling pads and where is it available? how much does it cost?
And lastly my parents’ requirement is such that they should be able to use the cooler in the hall and bedroom. The size of the hall is around 200sq.feet and the ceiling height is around 12 feet. The room is a little smaller.

Thanks in advance. I would appreciate your fast reply.
    Rajesh.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hello Mr Agarwal,

There are several that offer adjustable humidity level. You can look at these:

      Khaitan Dezire 20
Bajaj Room Cooler PX 95 AC or Room Cooler PC 2000 DLX
      Kenstar Wondercool Super (KCBWSF1W-EPG)
      Usha Honeywell CL 201AE

However they are of different sizes. In humid areas coolers do not cool the room, they just provide comfort to people sitting in front of it. If you want to cool the whole room then AC is better. And yes cooling pads have to changed regularly. You can call up the company for the same. However we are not aware of the costs for the same. Symphony, Kenstar are some of the most popular brands of air cooler.

    • Rajesh

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply. I will check the above mentioned models and buy one suited to our needs. Thanks once again.

  • yatheesh chandra

which is the latest & best featured & durable air coolers suitable for bangalore climate

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hello Mr Bist,

A 12 inch fan with 675 CFM air delivery should be good enough for cooling a room of 1292 CF. I do not see any problem with that. You can certainly go ahead with it.

  • Rustamji

    Dear friend,

Have gained much knowledge through the info you disseminate.

Am from Mumbai & in need of an air cooler for a room with a West facing wall with 2 windows plus am on the top floor with wood ceiling & mangalore tiles on roof.

The room VOLUME is large at 19 x 15 x 12 feet (height) with an inverted “V” shaped wooden roof. Would an air cooler (with humidity control) AT ALL DO THE JOB ? I request 3 or 4 CHOICES of makers with a good track record of manufacture AND after-sales service. Honeycomb material preferred, as per your advice.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hello Sir,

Air Coolers in general are not very effective in cooling a room in Mumbai as the humidity is high. At best they just throw cool air on a person but cooling a full room is extremely difficult. For humid places it is best to have an air conditioner. In fact the latest inverter ACs available in market are so energy efficient that when used at night they consume as much electricity as an air cooler.

An air cooler at best can be good for the person sitting in front of it. Do you really want to go for one?

  • Amit Ghosh

Hi please suggest Which brand will be best option. my room size is around 1000 sqft. budget around 8000/- what litre will be suitable for my room.

  • saurav

The information are really informative and helpful in selecting coolers. But now a days some coolers comes with blower while other with fan. Can you give some information which will be a better option and reason behind it.

    • Abhishek Jain

The difference between fan and blower is that fans produce a gas flow with less pressure and larger gas volume, while blowers produce a relatively higher pressure ratio with the larger gas volume flow. So because of more pressure, air from blower can cover a longer distance. Finally the choice depends on what you like: air with more pressure on your body or cooler but low volume environment.

    • Saurav

Ok. So a blower will cool a room less than a fan will do?

    • Bijli Bachao Team

Not really. Just the draft of air will feel more. As for cooling you should look at the size of air cooler that can support your room size.

  • Nishanth

    Hello..u have a nice article
    Q. Which is the best cooler to use in a coastal area..I live in calicut(kerala) and humidity is more over here my budget is around 8k.. and if I buy a cooler will it prove ineffective because of the humid

    • Abhishek Jain

      Hi Nishanth,

You should look at a model that has humidity control feature so that you can adjust the amount of water used. What is the size of the room for which you are looking for a cooler?

  • Prasana

    Hello Astha
I have a Bedroom measuring 330 sq ft in the second floor with a height of 10 ft. There is no other floor on top and its just the terrace. Sun shines directly on the South wall and windows measuring 20 sq ft and 12 sq ft are placed on the East and South walls respectively.

I have also posted my requirement for an Inverter AC for the below mentioned room and got suggestions from Abhishek that “It will require 3 tons of cooling during peak summer daytime. If usage is only at night a 2.5 ton inverter AC would work well. Otherwise would have to go for two separate 1.5 ton ACs”.

I am also considering options of an air cooler for this room if I’m not getting a 2.5 or 3 ton AC or not viable to install two 1.5 ACs. Atleast for now I can buy a cooler and use it till I settle down for the apt AC. I am made aware by you that I should go for HoneyComb pad and a galvanised Steel body.
What should be the water capacity I should be looking for? I really couldn’t find models with their CFM mentioned.Should the cooler have a cooling area of entire 330 sq ft or just be compact and easy to move and trollley around? I might want it to be with wheels so that I can move it anywhere in my house once I get an AC for this room. Based on my requirements and your experience can you suggest me few air cooler models with their prices?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Abhishek Jain

      Hello Prasana,

Symphony is one of the leading brand of air coolers. You can look at Symphony Storm 70i or 100i for your room in case you are looking for movable air cooler.

    • Prasana

      Hey Abhishek,
I could not find the models u said. So I have bought the Symphony Diet 22i. Costed me Rs.8550. It is sleek, compact and easily movable. So I can keep it close to me and the room needn’t cool as such. The air throw and cooling is great. Thanks a lot for helping me choose symphony.

  • Mohan

10 x 15 ft. We will be using it in bed room and hall. How is Symphony 22ltr Diet Air cooler? Is it over priced?

    • Abhishek Jain

      Hi,

Symphony is not very expensive in general. And it is a good brand. As you are in a humid area, I would suggest that you go for a model that has humidity control feature in it. In Symphony you can look at HiCool Smart model (http://www.symphonylimited.com/products/hicool-smart.html). It has humidity control, remote control and everything that you are looking for.

    • Mohan

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestion and I appreciate it.

Hi I am having a kenstar tower cooler with a honey comb pad system.
I have been using this for past 3 years, I clean and maintain well, and its working smooth without any complain.
I want to replace my cooling pad, but not finding at malls or retail outlet I searched.
I am from Mumbai chembur. could you guide me on where to find it.

  • Mridul Bansal

    Hi
I am evaluating options to purchase air cooler. But, I am not sure of the service provided by various brands. I have few questions:
Can you please suggest the Brand having best service and least breakdowns.
What is their usual time taken to respond and resolve a service complaint,
What is the warranty period and things covered under it
What people usually go for: company’s service or local service.
Are cooling pads required to be changed every summer, can they be changed by me on my own, do companies provide pads, and price difference between pads from the company and pads from local market.

    Thanks
    Mridul Bansal

  • Santanil Bhattacharya

Hi, I am from Kolkata, I want to buy an air cooler but since it is very humid here , I am thinking to buy symphony hi cool smart i because it has a humid control option , will this be effective for cooling ?? waiting for your reply

    • Abhishek Jain

      Hello Santanil,

Air Coolers are in general not great for humid climates, but in case you want to go for them then the humidity control option is very important. Symphony is a good brand. Just make sure that the model is big enough for your room size. Symphony website gives applicable room size on all models.

    • Rash

You can buy the Best air cooler Kenstar 118H model.

  • Anri Tchelidze

Hey :) I bought this cooling fan today, it works fine but it has a specific smell of sawdust. What I’m saying is, that the fan from behind is covered with sawdust and when it got wet it is blowing some kind of smell of this sawdust. Does it alwys stay the same or does it go eventually??

    • Abhishek Jain

It goes away eventually after some use.

  • sureshkhake

How can ice reduce temperature of out side air? Pl explain me how can ice useful to lower cooling?

    • Abhishek Jain

Before air conditioning was invented, it was ice that was used to generate cooling. When hot air passes over ice, the ice takes away heat from the air to melt and in process the air cools. So if you put ice in your air cooler, certainly you will get nice cooling.

  • sudeep

I have a school hall of 1000 sq feet on the top floor of a building – is it better to use 1 or 2 big Industrial coolers or use many smaller ones .
The hall has 2 big windows on the south – on the side facing west there are 2 big windows as well as french windows leading to the terrace

    • Abhishek Jain

      Hi,

As long as you have good air circulation in the room, even one or two big industrial coolers will do. To have that either you need to have ceiling fans (or any other fans) that are switched on, or the blowers of the coolers should be powerful enough to give a strong breeze so that cold air reaches all corners of the room. If the air circulation is low and cooler’s blower speed is less then the whole room will not get cooled and in that case you will need smaller coolers.

    • Nilesh

      Hi abhishek,

I am nilesh. I am from Mumbai and I want a air cooler for my 12*10 ft room. I quite confuse please suggest some coolers with best humidity control option.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

You can look at Symphony HiCooli model.

  • Charul Bharwada

What is the main operational difference between coolers with fan and coolers with blower ?

    • Abhishek Jain

The difference between fan and blower is that fans produce a gas flow with less pressure and larger gas volume, while blowers produce a relatively higher pressure ratio with the larger gas volume flow. So because of more pressure, air from blower can cover a longer distance. Finally the choice depends on what you like: air with more pressure on your body or cooler but low volume environment.

  • Sudipto Adhikary

    Hello Astha Shah,
I am from Kolkata, and want to buy a cooler for my room, Size of my room is 10x10X9 (LxBxH) top floor, and a 20sqft window facing at west. My budget is 5-7k.
Which is the worth buying brand & model? Please suggest
And please tell me diff about fan & blower? and which one is best?
    Thank You.
    Waiting for ur rply

    • Abhishek Jain

      Hello Mr Adhikary,

You can look at any of these models:

      Bajaj Room Cooler SB2003
      Kenstar Vibrant CT 9924
      Ram coolers UNO 204
      Symphony Kaizen Jr.

the difference between fan and blower is that fans produce a gas flow with less pressure and larger gas volume, while blowers produce a relatively higher pressure ratio with the larger gas volume flow. So because of more pressure, air from blower can cover a longer distance. Finally the choice depends on what you like: air with more pressure on your body or cooler but low volume environment. You can specially look at Symphony Kaizen Jr as it is quite energy efficient.

    • Kalpesh

      Hi Abhishek,

I stay at Kalyan & want a cooler for 10X13 sqft room. It has only one window. Currently I have choosed “Ram Coolers Eco 204” & “Khaitan Iceberg 20”. I’m confused which one should I buy & if you have few more options then please let me know.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Kalpesh,

Desert Coolers in general cool much better than movable coolers but that is in dry areas. You are in Mumbai which is humid, in such case it is better that you have a humidty control feature in the cooler. Both these coolers do not have humidity control. Also being in Mumbai going for a cooler that can use ice would be a better option.

    • Kalpesh

Thanks for the advice. Kindly suggest few models of Humidity control so that I can choose from the list.

    • Bijli Bachao Team

      Hi Kalpesh,

Symphony has some good coolers with humidity control feature. You can find some on this link: http://www.symphonylimited.com/products/SearchSuitableCooler.aspx
